On Saturday we had our first hands on camera class. We learned how to use the Arri S 16mm film camera. This was my first experience with a film camera, which was weird after spending so much time working with the DVX-100. I figured out why it is so difficult to make a good movie using film. There is so much that you need to take into consideration using film. Especially with a camera which doesn’t have any way to play back what you filmed. Also, the only way to watch what you’re filming is through the eye piece. So if shoot something totally crappy, you won’t know until after you get your film processed at the lab. This class actually made me feel a lot more confident in shooting film, and made me see the benefits of film much more than I had before.

Something to say?
Hello.
I do not mean to offend by submitting this.
We are doing our best to sell this camera to someone who would really appreciate it and use it. One time owner. Used to cover the Vietnam War. Excellent shape.
Please just delete this note if you find it in bad taste.
No harm intended.
Best,
April

Hello. I hope you don’t mind, but I linked to your blog post from my own blog today. I just came back from shooting my first cinematography project on an Arri S, and I unfortunately did not have the foresight to snap a few pictures of the camera.
