If you were one of the first 25 lucky pre-orders of the Red One camera you will likely have received your new camera by now. The results of some of the first on the market testing has yet to come in, but everyone in the independent film world should be watching with anticipation as to what happens with this camera. I’d love to be able to throw $30k or so into buying one of these along with some key accessories, lenses etc but we’re far from being able to afford that yet.

So far all I’ve heard is hype about how this camera is going to revolutionize the independent film world, and eventually HD filmmaking in general, but apart from Peter Jackson’s 30s sample I have not seen any footage of a real shoot. Hopefully that will change soon as Off Hollywood Studios in New York City along Mike Curtis from HD For Indies are busy shooting some stuff, which hopefully will get published online for all of us to see. While they are out shooting Mike is covering all of it on HD For Indies via his iPhone (just a little jealous). I really do hope this camera is worth all of the hype, cause I don’t want to pay for film stock again. Here is a behind the scenes clip from their shoot.
